National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30, 2021 the Aurora Cultural Centre, in partnership with the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation presented Honouring the Children | National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Jared Big Canoe and honoured guests from Georgina Island acknowledged this historic day through drumming, stories, dance and historical context to members of the Aurora community and beyond. A creative space welcomed members of the public to make cards of hope and caring to send to the school on Georgina Island.
We are profoundly grateful for the generosity and knowledge shared by the Chippewas of Georgina Island as we all seek to move forward through care, compassion and reconciliation with the original caretakers of this land.
