Mayor’s Celebration of Youth Arts 2023
The Mayor’s Celebration of Youth Arts (MCOYA) student art exhibition continues now into its twelfth year! We are elated for this year’s exhibition featuring artwork from the grade 12 students from across Aurora and runs in person from Saturday, February 11th – Saturday, March 18th, 2023 and online from Saturday, February 11th to Saturday, April 1st, 2023 on this webpage.
MCOYA23 will showcase the student artwork in a professional exhibition installed in the gallery space at Aurora Town Hall. To best celebrate the work of these creative senior students, this exhibition will feature accompanying engaging virtual content.
Students will get the opportunity to participate in curating, installing, and being critically engaged throughout each stage of the exhibition and meet new and fellow like-minded artists in each other.

Eligibility to Participate:
Participation in the exhibition is open to any grade 12 art student who is attending high school in Aurora (including home-schooled students), or grade 12 art students who live in Aurora but attend school elsewhere.
This includes any grade 12 students who are not currently in an art class but have taken grade 12 art the previous semester, or who took grade 11 art last year and intend to continue their artistic pursuits.
The Aurora Cultural Centre guarantees one (1) artwork per artist will be included in the exhibition. You have the option to submit two works.
To have their work included in the exhibition, all students must complete the Online Student Submission Form below. THE DEADLINE FOR THE SUBMISSION FORM IS FRIDAY JANUARY 20th, 2023.
As part of MCOYA 2023, the Aurora Cultural Centre is excited to invite artists Emily DiCarlo and Brandon Vickerd to deliver two in-person presentations geared towards our next generation of emerging artists. We recommend this speaker series for any high school students who may be interested in pursuing their post-secondary studies and/or a career in Fine/Studio/Visual art. This speaker series is offered free of charge and is available for all to attend.
