Land Acknowledgement
We respectfully acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and previously Wendat Peoples, in the Williams Treaties and Treaty 13 areas. We wish to recognize the long history of First Nations and metis peoples in Ontario and show our respect to them. The Williams Treaties include the Chippewas of Beausoleil, Georgina Island, and Rama First Nations, as well as the Mississaugas of Alderville, Curve Lake, Hiawatha, and Scugog First Nations.
These thriving and growing nations continue to care for these lands as they have for many thousands of years. Aurora Town Square is a meeting place that is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and celebrate on this land because it was kept in care by peoples before us.
We acknowledge that both as an organization and as individuals we are in a constant learning process. We bring people together to teach, create with us, build for the community, and each time we learn more deeply, adapt, and move forward with greater intention.
