Events for Artists
On occasion, the Cultural Centre repositions its galleries and studios for the gathering and professional development of artists in our community. Individuals of all disciplines and levels of practice are welcome to attend, however, please note the age restriction for each program prior to attending.
Admission to these events is free with online pre-registration unless otherwise specified.

Artist–Poet Gatherings (All Ages)
A quarterly meetup between artists and poets in the Aurora Cultural Centre’s galleries in Aurora Town Square. Participants are invited to create spontaneous written and visual responses to the artworks on display within our current exhibitions.
Each gathering begins with 1.5 hours of viewing, social, and creation time, followed by a 30-minute sharing session with the option to present any work made. All writing/art materials are responsible of the participants. Please note that only dry media is permitted in this program.

Crit Club (Ages 18+)
Recognizing the value that critique plays in the development of artistic practice, Crit Club offers a free space for artists to gather and engage in thoughtful dialogue surrounding their own and each other’s artwork. To participate, attendees must bring finished works or works-in-progress, along with a willingness to receive and provide constructive criticism.
This program occurs quarterly and is open to artists at all disciplines and career levels. Experience in art criticism is not required. All mediums and practices of art are welcome, however, artists showing digital work must bring their own means of presentation.

Open Studio (Ages 18+)
Open Studio is an unguided program that provides free studio access for creators to work on their visual art projects. Program participants are provided access to the basement studio of the Cultural Centre and its basic equipment which includes tables, chairs, easels (while quantities last), and running water.
Please note that all art materials are the responsibility of the artist. Spray paint and aerosol media, turpentine, and other toxic solvents / spirits are not permitted. A free, self-run program, we ask participants to be mindful of others and clean up when they are finished using the space. Storage is not provided.
Open Studio occurs from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm every Wednesday in the Art Activity Room (Level B1), Aurora Town Square (holidays exempt).
Open Studio is currently closed for Summer Camp and will resume in the fall season.
Pre-registration is not required; however, all attendees must sign in to the “Open Studio Attendance Binder” upon their arrival to the program.
