Mondays | Ages 16+ | 6 weeks | 6:30 – 9:00 pm | September 25 – November 6 (*Skip October 9 for Thanksgiving*)

Learn to carve and achieve satisfying results as you create pieces in relief and in the round. Appropriate for the absolute beginner to the experienced carver. Learn safe and skillful use of the knife, gouges and other tools.  Course to be assisted by Marlene Ash.

An $80 materials fee includes your own new knife, wood blanks and safety glove, as well as all supplementary resources. Nominal fee for returning students to pay for wood blanks, etc. A fully refundable deposit of $100 is required at the start of the program for use of on loan gouges. Materials fee and fully refundable deposit payable to instructor on first day of class.

Meet Your Instructor

Instructor Arnold Koch was born in Switzerland and moved to Canada in the early 80s. He currently lives in Mt. Albert with his family. He started woodturning in Switzerland before moving to Canada, where he continued to work as a woodturner, amassing 47 years of experience. About 35 years ago, Arnold began wood carving and joined the Ontario Wood Carvers Association nearly 30 years ago. He has attended numerous shows and received ribbons and awards. For the last 15 years, Koch has also been making and selling wood carving knives. Now, recently retired, he continues to wood turn for projects around the house and others.
