About the workshop:
Looking to integrate Drama and The Arts curriculum into your class and other subject areas but don’t know where to start? Look no further! Created in partnership with MonAvenir, York Catholic District School Board, and York Region District School Board, in this two-hour virtual workshop, we will:
- Engage in drama-based activities that can be replicated with students online or in class – we will learn through play!
- Explore practical ways to implement and integrate Drama and The Arts into the non-arts curriculum
- Consider accessibility adaptations and accommodations
- Apply curriculum connections
- Discuss assessment in the arts
- Address concerns and questions
Handouts will also be provided with lesson plans, sample activities, and other arts resources for your classroom.
This free workshop for JK-Grade 4 teachers is provided by the Aurora Cultural Centre as part of the Kaleidoscope in the Schools program.

- In this interactive workshop you will learn through play! Participants will replicate arts and drama activities by getting up on their feet and moving around. To get the best possible experience, we ask that you have your audio and video on throughout the workshop.

About our arts facilitator:
This workshop is facilitated by Marjie Chud (HBA, B.Ed, OCT, CAEA), professional theatre artist, artist educator, and arts administrator. Marjie has worked for over 30 years in partnership with variety of communities, schools, and arts organizations in Canada including the Aurora Cultural Centre, Canadian Opera Company, National Arts Centre, Roy Thomson Hall, and The Royal Conservatory of Music to create meaningful opportunities for participants of all ages to engage with the arts.
Marjie is currently the Mentor Artist Educator and Director of the Junior Ensemble at Young People’s Theatre (YPT), where for over a decade she has held leadership positions including Lead Resident Artist Educator, Acting Associate Artistic Director, Education; Curriculum Associate; Interim Community Volunteer Manager; and Interim Drama School Director.
In addition to her teaching artist practice, Marjie has focused the last several years on supporting established teaching artists with program development and mentoring emerging teaching artists. She is a professor in the Arts Education and Community Engagement Graduate Certificate program at Centennial College. She is also an active member of the Ontario College of Teachers facilitating a variety of Professional Development workshops and collaborating with educators to integrate the arts into other subjects in the Ontario curriculum and to support social literacy in schools.
