Tuesdays | 5 weeks | 7:00PM – 8:30PM |  March 9 – April 6

A joyful introduction to the fundamentals of painting in acrylics while learning to see the shapes, colours, and values that create successful composition. Learn brush and paint selection, colour theory, and techniques to develop your personal style. With plenty of self-guided projects, students are able to work at their own pace and learn to blend traditional and unconventional techniques. Class includes weekly live-online interactive sessions with your instructor and fellow classmates for discussion along with question & answer, as well as weekly digital handouts and other supplementary resources.

Materials List available for download above. We recommend purchasing art supplies from either: Curry’s, DeSerres, Michaels, or Amazon. Requirements:

  • Access to a stable internet connection
  • Free Gmail account for Google Classroom & Google Meet live sessions
  • Computer, laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone
  • Dedicated space to make art
  • Supplies specific to your program

Meet Your Instructor

Instructor Helen Walter (B.A.A.) is a multidisciplinary artist who received her Bachelor of Applied Arts from Ryerson University in film and photography. Helen has instructed drawing and painting classes for over eight years to youth, adults, and seniors in addition to practicing as a graphic artist for over 30 years.
