Beyond the Silence: Acknowledging Disenfranchised Grief Through Community, Compassion, and Connection
Monday, August 31, 2026 | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Aurora Cultural Centre | Aurora Town Square, 50 Victoria Street, Aurora
Harm Reduction Coalition of York Region and Aurora Cultural Centre are partnering to create a space for remembrance, reflection, learning, and reducing the stigma surrounding drug use.
This year’s event features They are loved-an epidemic of grief, a sculptural textile installation by Toronto-based Métis artist Tracey-Mae Chambers, whose work explores collective grief, healing, and decolonization. Inspired by the loss of her son, Parker, this installation raises awareness of the opioid crisis while fostering remembrance, reflection, and community connection.
