Meet Your Instructor

Instructor Helen Walter (B.A.A.) has been an artist all her life, and an art instructor for over 15 years. As an adult student, Helen took an evening course in Fine Arts at York University before transferring to full-time studies at then-Ryerson’s 4-year Film and Photography department where she earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts. In her fourth year, Helen and a fellow student formed and ran a creative marketing company, Capstone Communications, combining photography, writing and graphic arts for 30 years. In that time, Helen re-discovered canvases and brushes both in the studio and en plein air. For many years, at Art One Academy, Helen taught 6-14 yr. old students on weekends, and for the past 14 years Helen has been teaching evening acrylics classes for adult beginners and advanced students in Aurora, and afternoon acrylics classes for adults in Richmond Hill. She has won prizes for her studio and plein air work.
