Great Artist Music Series
Beverley Johnston

In the hands of Beverley Johnston, percussion evolves into something far beyond rhythm. An Officer of the Order of Canada, inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame in 2024 and honoured with the 2025 Oskar Morawetz Award – joining past recipients Angela Hewitt, Russell Braun, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin – Johnston is celebrated worldwide as one of the great percussionists of her generation. Moving fluidly between marimba, vibraphone, drums, gongs, bells, and chimes, she reveals percussion as a fully expressive art form: lyrical, dramatic, intimate, and electrifying. With eight solo albums and a reputation as a champion of new Canadian music, she creates a shimmering, visually stunning world of sound in motion that is simply beyond compare.
