Meet Your Instructor

Instructor Karen Johnston (B.F.A., RECE) is an Artist, a passionate Maker and an Early Childhood Educator based in Toronto. Her creative abilities paired with her understanding of child development form a well-balanced partnership. After working for many years in advertising as a layout artist, art director and freelance graphic designer Karen established mosaicworks, a small studio that embraces traditional fine art (drawing, painting and mosaicking).   

Karen’s teaching portfolio (present and past) includes The Aurora Cultural Centre, The City of Toronto (Cedar Ridge Creative Centre), The Canadian Contemporary School of Art, The City of Oshawa (The Art Resource Centre), and The McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
