Aurora Cultural Centre Presents
Alana Bridgewater Sings Nina Simone
Davide De Simone Performance Hall
Aurora Town Square | 50 Victoria Street, Aurora
6:45 pm Doors Open
7:30 pm Show Start
Experience the raw power of the “High Priestess of Soul” through the extraordinary voice of Alana Bridgewater. Born in Newmarket and celebrated across stage and screen – as Killer Queen in Mirvish’s We Will Rock You, in Soulpepper’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom at New York’s Signature Center, and as Mr. King Dice in the hit video game Cuphead – Bridgewater channels Nina Simone’s spirit with a voice and presence equal to the task. This revelatory concert spans 18 songs from Simone’s iconic repertoire, from I Put a Spell on You and Feeling Good to the civil rights fire of Mississippi Goddam, woven together with the stories behind the music. This is an evening of jazz, soul, and raw human truth that will stay with you long after the last note fades.
