Theatre Camp Team 2018

Welcome to camp! I am excited to be the Summer Art Camp Coordinator this year. I have a long history of camp experience at a variety of summer camps in the GTA and I am looking forward to bringing my experience to the Aurora Cultural Centre! I am currently a Masters student at York University studying Environmental Law. My favourite colour is green and my favourite artist is the French Canadian artist Jean Paul Lemieux. I can't wait to meet and work with all of our amazing artists this summer!

Senior Counsellor

Hi, I'm Amanda! I'm currently studying Biology and History at Trent University and want to go to Teacher's College once I graduate. My favorite colour is sky blue, and I admire how the Group of Seven has conveyed the beauty of Canada's wilderness to the world. I have worked at summer camps in York Region for two years and am excited to be working as a Senior Art Camp Counsellor this summer!

Senior Counsellor

Hi there! My name is Cassandra and I’ll be one of your Senior Art Camp Counsellors this summer. I’ve practiced visual arts all my life and I’m continuing this journey at York University pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with the addition of English/Creative Writing major. My favourite colour is purple. Caspar David Friedrich is an artist I admire because of the way he conveys the grandeur of nature in his landscapes. This summer I’m looking forward to sharing one of my greatest passions with our students. I’m excited to explore new ideas and ignite your curiosity in the arts!

Junior Counsellor

My name is Sydney. I am a graduating honours student at St. Maximilian Kolbe. I will be attending Western University for a Bachelor of Fine arts in the Fall. Art is my passion in life, I am an artist myself. I love all colours equally, and my favourite artists are Willem De Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein and Jackson Pollock. I am looking forward to a summer full of art as well as inspiring others and encouraging them to follow their passions in life and be the best artists they can be!

Theatre Camp Director

Mandy Roveda graduated from York University's BFA Acting Conservatory and has gone on to act in theatre and film across Canada, Taiwan, Thailand and South Korea. She has worked with children in theatre for over 15 years and last year completed an elementary drama program for the company InterAct. Mandy is delighted to be working with the Aurora Cultural Centre. She loves all musicals but has a special place in her heart for anything Disney: Lion King, Moana, Frozen, she loves them all!
