Printmaking is an ancient accessible art form that consists broadly of transferring an image from one surface to another through a manual technique. In this beginner’s workshop students will be introduced to basic relief printmaking techniques by carving their own image into a soft rubber-like block that they will then ink up and hand print onto traditional Western and Japanese papers. This art form creates bold graphic images with fine detailed lines. Students will leave this class with original prints of the image they created. All tools and materials provided upon payment of Materials Fee. Bring a bagged lunch as well as sketches, drawings, or photographs for inspiration.
