During this class, students will have the opportunity to explore the colours they see around them through variety of materials such as acrylic paint, pastels, watercolour, and found objects. Your young artist we be inspired by the colours of Fall and will learn how to mix colours, create light and dark hues, and discover which colours help each other pop out and step back. While making connections to colours they see in their everyday life, students will create pieces of work about nature, imagination and visualization! The class includes trips to the Centre’s onsite galleries to learn through interacting with the artwork in the current exhibitions. The session will end with an art show where students are invited to share their creativity and pieces with their families. All materials provided.
Class skips October 6 for Thanksgiving Weekend
Instructor Danielle Zafirovski is a teacher with York Region District School Board and a practicing visual artist, specializing in painting and printmaking. Danielle has her Fine Arts degree (B.F.A.) from Queen’s University and her Teaching degree (B.Ed, Arts Integration) from York University. Danielle is OCT certified to teach Primary, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Visual Arts and History. She has also taken additional qualifications in Special Education Pt. 1 and English as a Second Language Pt. 1. As an LTO teacher with YRDSB Danielle has taught at Unionville PS, Central Park PS, Mount Joy PS, Ellen Fairclough PS, and Markham District HS. She has also taught at YRDSB Arts Camp along with Art Grid in Richmond Hill. Danielle is excited to bring her passion and expertise to our children’s programs this Fall!
